Charlie Kornberg's Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
A Biography .. of sorts!
People have asked me to give them some information about myself, but I wasn't sure what they actually meant. Did they want to know what I do? Did they want to know what I look like? Or did they want to know my bank account number? For answers to these questions, and more, STAY TUNED!!
I am, what is termed, a Musculoskeletal/Manipulative Physiotherapist. This basically means that I completed my Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy (1982) and then went on to complete my Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy (1985). I did all of that at a place called Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences (now called LaTrobe University), here in Melbourne, Australia.
As if my life wasn't hectic enough, I successfully completed my Master of Manipulative Physiotherapy degree at LaTrobe University in 2000.
I have been working out in the "real world" of Physiotherapy since 1982, but have been Director of Physiotherapy Services, at the Metropolitan Spinal Clinic, here in Melbourne, since 1987.
Well, all good things must come to an end. I have now re-located my physiotherapy practice to a new location, with an all new name ... Brighton Spine Institute. As you would have already seen, I have created a new website for my new clinic - go and have a look.
My areas of interest are probably pretty obvious when you have a look at my Home Page, but essentially I like lower back problems!
I've had a few things published around the traps, including articles in the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy (USA), a book called "Common Lower Back Problems in Sport" and medically related articles on the Internet.
I travel to the United States and Europe regularly, presenting my courses entitled "Basic Neural Mobilisation". They are 2 day courses aimed at teaching the Therapist skills pertaining to the assessment and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal disorders, with particular emphasis on the nervous system.
If you check out the What's Up In Physiotherapy page, you'll know what's on around the world and where I'll be in 2014/2015. Come and say hello, if you're in a nearby place.
Although I'm not in to being self-laudatory, some of the "awards" that have been bestowed on my Web Page can be seen here. Although, I still feel the nicest compliment given was that of the Australian Net Guide who, in April 1996, said "....This page is cool!"
